I grew up in Miramar - it was an awesome place to grow up. My mother and grandmother were both entrepreneurs; they developed balms and beauty products, and so from a young age I learned about different herbs and flowers and what they did to the human body. Though my mother and grandmother never got to have a storefront, people liked the products enough that they came to our house to buy them.
In high school I took their recipes and added some things of my own with not just a practical use, but also a spiritual one. It was in college that I discovered that plants and gemstones work awesomely together, and so I incorporated all my gemology knowledge to the product line.
In 1992 I got my artisan licence and started selling my product line professionally. Now I have won 9 awards for my Aje water including the Smithsonian best new product award. I am very excited for what the future will bring, and hopefully I can achieve what mom and grandma could not: a storefront.

We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
