Khin (second from the left in the photo) is the featured borrower. She is known as a very hardworking and diligent woman in the village. She has been working as a farmer for her entire life.

Khin requested a loan, which she will use to purchase fertilizer and crop seeds so as to gain better crop production and boost her income. She wants to expand her farm and renovate her house with her profits.

Khin and her group members are from Ah Shey Nga Kyaw, near Pakokku Township, which is situated in the central dry zone area of Myanmar. This community has around 88 households and most of the people earn their living by working as farmers or day laborers or by raising livestock. Due to climate change, there has been irregular rain that has had an effect on planting and made it even more difficult for farmers in the area.
