Sophat's story

Sophat is 32 years old. She lives with her spouse and a baby in the small village of Ou Ta Saeng Village, Ta Prok Commune, Chamkar Leu District, Kampong Cham Province. She has been involved in the agricultural business from an early age as her parents were farmers and taught her how to handle this business. This is a traditional activity for the family and she can make a net profit about USD 10.00 per day.

Now she works hard on her own land, which she inherited after she married, growing rice and cassava for a seasonal income. Due to the lack of economic resources for an investment into her farming project, she has applied for a loan from Kiva via HKL, which enables her to pay laborers for transplanting rice and weeding the cassava plantation. As a result of the loan support, she hopes to maintain her crops in good condition and ensure a fruitful harvest in this coming season. This will improve the income for her family.

This is her first loan cycle with Kiva. After this using loan she plans to repair her house. She thanks lenders for a constant support. She awaits your kindness and relies on your generosity.
