A loan helped a member to purchase a solar home system to be able to read and write at night.

Valentina's Group's story

Valentina, Maria, and Consuelo live in Xilitla, located in the state of San Luis Potosi. Their town is known for its outstanding beauty. Valentina, just like Maria and Consuelo, is a house mother that cares for her community. Thanks to women like them, Xilitla has been recognized repeatedly as a town that successfully preserves the Mexican tradition, culture, and beauty. However, daylight is available to them for only half the time that it is available in urban houses.

Today, Valentina uses candles to light her home. With the purchase of a solar energy system she would be able to read and write at night and save an additional 350 MXN per month. This would help her to contribute to keeping Xilitla as exemplary, culturally rich, and beautiful as it is today.
