A loan helped to buy a new stove to keep making the meat pies, fried yucca and toasted bananas that she sells.

Reina Isabel's story

Reina is 36-years old. She went to school until the 3rd grade because her parents separated and she stayed living with her mother. She has two children and re-married. Her husband works in a shop repairing tires.

Reina has worked selling pupusas (stuffed tortillas) but she also sells other snacks such as meat pies, fried yucca, toasted bananas and also sells fruits, natural juices and water in the buses. She has a lot of experience in this job and with the previous Kiva loan she was able to invest into her business and has been very responsible because she has completely paid off her debt.

She needs this loan to buy a new stove to keep making the meat pies, fried yucca and toasted bananas that she sells. She dreams of her business being profitable to satisfy the basic needs of her family and that her children can be successful.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Mara Nagaki.
