Santa Catalina Group's story

The members of the Communal Bank “Santa Catalina” are from the centre of Cuyocc, Anco District, Province of Churcampa and Department of Huancavelica. The community has a population of approximately 1500 co-proprietors. The city is primarily sustained by cultivation of corn, wheat, potatoes and other products.

Octavia lives with her partner and has three children. Octavia sells various clothes in her district. She began with only a few assorted products and now her business has grown. With the loan she hopes to obtain, she will buy more clothes to diversify her business. The dreams of Octavia are to obtain more products and to support her children in becoming professionals.

Donatilda is married and has two children, aged 12 and 14. Donatilda buys and sells smaller animals, like chickens and guinea pigs. Her loan will be invested in the buying of chickens and guinea pigs. The dreams of Donatilda are to have more capital and to buy large animals and support her children in their education.

Maribel is married and has four children. Maribal started selling fish and, with her first loan, she changed her business to sell clothes at fairs. With the loan she hopes to obtain, she has plans to buy a broader variety of clothes. The dreams of Maribel are to buy a loom in order to make sweaters and to finance the education of her children.
