A loan helped a member to purchase solar-powered lanterns for her home.

Babita And Group's story

Babita, 32, is a resident of Cuttack, district in Odisha. Her village is in a region that is facing an energy crisis. Frequent power-cuts in the evening means she has to finish her household chores in the dark, and her two sons have to use kerosene lamps to complete their homework. This leads to a decrease in her work productivity, and these lamps not only increase pollution but are also inefficient.

Solar energy is believed to be the source of energy that will help solve India's power shortage. Using solar lamps will lead to improved health and energy conservation. They are also low maintenance, have zero installation cost, are durable, affordable, and provide reliable power.

Hence, Babita joined hands with nine other women from the village to seek a loan of 44,200 INR to buy solar lanterns. These lanterns lasts for 8 to 12 hours on a day's charge.

Since these lamps can provide basic lighting in the night, it will also help support her children's education. Your loan will give Babita and her family access to clean energy, healthier life and affordable electricity.
