A loan helped a member to purchase used clothing.

Dios Bendice 4 Group's story

Samedy lives in a small, isolated community in the Dominican Republic known as a batey. A batey is typically composed of Haitian workers and their families, who have immigrated to the Dominican Republic in order to work in the sugarcane fields. Despite the difficult living situation and general lack of access to the outside world, Samedy and her group members have started small businesses in order to augment their household income and help provide for their families.

Samedy purchases used clothes in the nearby city of La Romana and sells them in her local batey. She travels semi-regularly to keep her merchandise new and appealing. As a more experienced borrower, Samedy is a leader in her group and supports the other borrowers with ideas and suggestions of ways they can improve their businesses.

Thank you for your consideration of Samedy and her group, Dios Bendice (God Blesses).

In this group: Samedy, Luzna, Yoseta, Rosemanie, Marleny
