Nelly is 45-years-old and is married with 4 children; two are grown up and two are 7 and 4-years-old. The younger children currently study in school and still live with Nelly. Nelly's husband makes a living from farming. Nelly is a very caring wife and is taking out a loan in order to help her husband with his work, as this will allow them and their family to get by.
Nelly's husband makes a living from farming and grows rice, maize and vegetables throughout all seasons of the year as he has suitable irrigation lands. He also has pumps which carry the water up from the nearby river to his crops, and this allows them to collect two or three harvests a year.
Like many others in the region, Nelly and her husband were affected by the earthquake, and their home suffered a lot of damage. It is for this reason that they are applying for this loan. They will use the loan to buy farming supplies in order to achieve a greater harvest. Their dream is to give the best they can to their children.
