A loan helped to stock her shop.

Zuleatu's story

Zuleatu is 21 years old and lives with her grandparents and six siblings in the Chereponi district.

She runs a cosmetics business selling perfumes, medicated soaps, liquid soaps and more.

Zuleatu used her first Kiva loan to construct a cosmetic shop, and buy cosmetics and used the profits to buy a refrigerator.

Zuleatu is requesting a second Kiva loan to buy cosmetics in larger quantities to stock her newly constructed shop, and plans to use the profit she earns to further expand her business and to support her schooling.

Zuleatu volunteers as a Camfed Learner Guide, helping local high school students find their own strengths and leads discussion groups about how they can create a better world.

The interest on Zulaitu's “social-interest” loan is being repaid through her weekly volunteer work. Zuleatu is empowered to pursue her plan to own and manage a large cosmetic shop in Chereponi.
