A loan helped a member to purchase fertilizer and insecticides for her rice farming.

Phally Group's story

Phally is a 51-year-old married mother with three children, all of whom are still in school. She lives in Kratie province in Cambodia. Along with her 51-year-old husband, she has been a rice farmer since 1996. They can make around $16 each day.

Phally, pictured the first on the right, is a group leader who would like to request a loan on behalf of all five members. She will use her portion to purchase fertilizer and insecticides for her rice farming, purchases that should increase her revenue.

In the future, Phaly hopes that she can farm both in the dry and rainy seasons more than twice per year and save money to support her children seeking university educations.
