Zandra's story

I am Zandra, a 15 year old high school sophomore. My mother Tamara is a trained mortuary scientist and practice management consultant. By day she and I go to school and manage a huge Chiropractic office, but by night we run Zandra. I run track, play golf and love to eat good food. I really love spending time with my family and my dogs; Mister and Sunni. I am passionate about creating opportunities for girls that don’t have access to all that I do. I want to be a voice for them to open the doors where they can create and build something great for themselves and their community.

When I was little I was obsessed with lip balm; I couldn't get enough. My dad got tired of buying it for me and facetiously told me to "make it yourself!”. To his surprise I started experimenting in my kitchen and selling it on the street. From that, my mom and I started our first business, Azariah's Innocence. Since then, I have increased profit for the last few years, I have been named ambassador of International Day of the Girl and I have been voted “Coolest kidprenuer in America” by Girl’s Life Magazine and Nickelodeon, I have been featured in major national publications such as Black Enterprise, Seventeen Magazine and Girl’s Life Magazine; I even received a proclamation from our city Mayor.
