Sophy's Group's story

A local resident living in Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Sophy is 46 years old and a mother of three dependent children, two of whom are too young attend school and the other one is still in school. She has been involved in planting cassava business for 26 years as the main source of her income. In their spare time, she and her husband work as paid workers to earn additional income. Lack of working capital is the main challenge for her business.

This is her six loan cycle with VisionFund, and she also repaid the past loan completely. She has used the past loan to purchase home equipment and improve her family’s living better than before. As a leader, she is seeking for a new loan as part of three members to pay for plowing fee of cassava planting. She believes this loan will allow her to build a new house and keep sending her children to school.
