A loan helped a member to buy organic fertilizer and organic pesticide, and pay for plowing fees.

Song Group's story

Song is a 34-year-old married woman who lives in the Kampong Cham province, Cambodia with two children. She has grown cassava to support her family since 2001. Her husband is a 36-year-old farmer, and both of her children are students. Song and her husband can make around $ 8 each day.

Song leads a four member group to apply for loans. As the group leader, she is going to use her loan portion to buy organic fertilizer and organic pesticide, and pay for plowing fees. Song is pictured first from the right. She hopes that she will be able to buy a hectare of farmland to grow cassava and build a decent house.
