A loan helped a member to pay for farming costs.

Voeun Group's story

Voeun is seen first from the right. She is a 45-year-old, married mother of five dependent children who lives in the Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. Her main sources of revenue from which she can funding her family’s living, are from cassava growing and working as a laborer for others. She has been with her cassava farm since 1996. Her husband is a 50-year-old farmer as well, and two of her teenagers are factory workers while another three children are schoolchildren. Both of them can earn approximately USD 11 per day.

As a group leader, she would like to request a loan as a share of a three-member group and she will use her part to pay for farming costs. With this loan, she will be able to grow better rice crops to support the family. In the future, she is going to purchase extra farm land, save money to build a new house, and support her children to get bachelor’s degree.
