Vestine is a 36-year-old, married mother with four children.
For the past six years, she has been selling bananas, beans, and maize from her farming business. She works at the market every day from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. While the work is tough and the hours are long, Vestine is committed to her business so that her children may prosper.
She is a leader of the group Abunzubumwe, and she is the one who shown with papers in her hands in the photo. She is happy to report that she is a repeat client. Her first loan was repaid with success, and she said that was very helpful.
Vestine has requested a Kiva loan via VisionFund to expand her business by purchasing fertilizer so that she is able to increase the output and quality of her crops. This will eventually lead to increased profits when her crops are sold at the local market. With this loan, she will earn more profits, allowing her to keep reinvesting for better financial stability as well as to pay her children's school fees and medical insurance.
Vestine hopes that, in five years she will be able to get a big boutique from which her community can find more goods.
