A loan helped a member to purchase a roll of fabric, some thread, and some flour.

Forage Ndiouga Kebe Group's story

This group of 22 members is part of the 'banc villageois' that was inaugurated in December 2013. It is composed of women from the same district. Nearly all of the women share the same language and culture. They are mainly actively in commerce.

NDEYE PENDA, standing at the right in the photo with a hand raised, is the featured borrower. She is 41 years old and the married mother of two boys and two girls. She is active in the commerce of artisanal bed sheets and at the same time selling beignets. She has been doing this work well before joining the 'banc villageois’, so she has a lot of experience in this domain.

With this new loan, she intends to purchase a roll of fabric and some thread to making bed sheets, with the help of a tailor. She will resell her goods in her neighborhood and in her home village. With the rest of the loan, she is going to purchase some flour to make beignets, which she will also sell. She sells beignets daily.

With the profits, she envisions helping out her husband to cover day-to-day family expenses, covering her children’s schooling costs, and finally supporting herself.

In this group: Bineta, Mbene, Amy, Faty Mor, Mame Binta, Khady, Astou, Ndeye Penda, Ndeye Djeubeu, Khoudia, Kahdy, Amy, Nogaye, Mame Faty, Marietou, Nogoye, Mame Diarra, Soda, Ouseynou, Lota, Fatou, Nafissatou
