The Lechuguitas communal association will begin its second cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Copacabana sector. It is made up of nine members, and is led by a board of directors of which Maruja is the treasurer.
The businesses of the members of the communal association are varied and include the sale of blankets, a neighborhood store, the sale of perfumes, the sale of sportswear, the sale of french fries and hotdogs, a construction business, the sale of toys, and the sale of underskirts. The loan they seek will benefit these micro entrepreneurs, including Maruja.
Maruja indicates that this is her first year in Pro Mujer. She joined at the invitation of an advisor who went to her community and invited her. Currently Maruja has a business selling blankets. She learned this business from her mother several years ago.
The loan she will take out now will be used to increase her capital through buying wool wholesale. She will acquire the wool from wholesalers in the city of La Paz, and after making the blankets she will sell them from her sales space. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her family economically, as she is in a common law marriage, and they have son.
When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she responds that she likes the trainings and the health area offered by the institution.
Note: In the photo only eight members appear, and Justiniano had to go to work after the disbursal.
