A loan helped a member to pay day labor wages and buy products for her malanga (sweet potato) and coffee production activity.

G.s Los Cedros Group's story

Meysis, 27, lives in the village of San Agustin, Trojes, El Paraiso in the eastern part of Honduras. She lives with her husband and two children in their own house. Her main activity is growing malanga (sweet potato) and she has been in business for several years with her husband. This has given her very good expertise because of her hard work. She is growing malanga on a patch of land which she harvests every six month. She also has a coffee plantation which is relatively new and hopes to reach a very good level of production in a few years.

Meysis wants to use the loan she is requesting to pay the wages of day laborers to help plant malanga and to clean the weeds. She also wants to buy some products for the farm as she wants to plant 4,000 malanga plants and also clean the cropland. This will help increase her income to cover household expenses and pay off debt.

Her dream is to get ahead in her activities, provide her children with an education and expand her cropland to increase production. With the support of the loan she will be able to reach her goals.

Meysis is requesting a loan through the group that includes Yodin Elias and Nohel Antonio who also work in malanga and coffee production. They decided to join together to take advantage of the loan through team work.
