Elfina's story

Elfina is 32 years old, married, and is the mother of four children. She has a vocational education, and works in a school as a teacher. For additional family income, she works with livestock and agriculture, which she started 11 years ago. Thanks to Elfina's hard work, her farm today has 3 cows, 10 sheep, and a horse. Elfina grows organic watermelons for the market and perennial grasses for feed for the cattle on 1.0 hectares of land. Her monthly income is about 18,500 som (KGS). Elfin is a member of the group "Usen," which is a group of just 3 participants. In order to further develop her business, Elfina has asked the bank "Bai-Tushum" for a loan in the amount of 50,000 som (KGS) in order to buy seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of organic watermelons. With the proceeds from the loan, Elfina plans to invest in the further growth of her business and the completion of her house.
