Simrandi, wearing a pink shirt, is 35 years old and the representative in the Paloil To group. Paloil To was taken from the local language; it means “ensure people live better”. Eight women decided to form the Paloil To group to get the loan from Kiva lenders through TLM. They earn money for living from farming.
Simrandi is an enterprising and hardworking mother. She helps her husband Godlif, a 35-year-old tumbler, in generating income for her family. She grows corn, cassava, cassava leaves, bananas, etc. on the farm. This is a profitable crop; planting and maintenance is easier. Simrandi usually brings the crops to market for sale. She decided to do this as they have 2 children who need education, food and other things, and she cannot lean on Godlif’s income only.
Sometimes Simrandi buys the crops from other farmers as well. Due to demand from the customers, Simrandi would like to provide more bananas, sweet potatoes, etc. This reason led to her seeking a loan to improve her business. Together, Simrandi and 7 members formed the Paloil To group and requested a loan totaling IDR 16,000,000 from Kiva via TLM. They are thankful for Kiva and TLM is willing to assist them with the loan. They promise to make the repayment on time.
