La Mu Gyi Village Group's story

This community is located in La Mu Gyi Village, Myanmar Ayeyarwaddy Delta region, featuring 5 CBO (Community Based Organization) members overseeing a group of 22 village customers. This loan will help group members purchase high quality duck feed and rebuild their duck farms. La Mu Gyi Village has over 1540 residents and most of them are farmers. For additional income, some households not only grow seasonal fruits and vegetables but also raise pigs and chickens. Some of the younger villagers work as daily laborers. The above photo includes four CBO members and one village customer from Kyon Paing Village group, named San, Mya, Than and Myint.

San (in the middle of the photo) is married with three children. In addition to their duck business, San’s family has a small farm, growing seasonal vegetables, betel leaves and betel nuts. San’s dream is to see her children finish school, to be well educated, and have good future opportunities. Like her fellow villagers, San will use Proximity's loan to purchase high quality feed that will increase the egg production to boost income. With some of the additional income, the family aims to purchase some pig livestock.
