A loan helped to build a greenhouse.

Englantina's story

Eglantina is a 35-year-old married mother of two, 11 and 6 years old, and they live in rural central Albania. She is in the photograph with her youngest son.

For about eight years, she's been doing agriculture to earn a living for her family in addition to some monthly social assistance of $35 for the whole family. In the agricultural land that her family owns, she has planted pear, cherry, apple, and plum orchards and grapevines and also oats and fodder for the animals.

She's got some greenhouse built also, where she grows mostly cucumbers, spinach, and lettuce. "I wanted to build another greenhouse as I have come to see it as very profitable. It doesn't come very expensive as someone might think. This is why I want this loan and I hope that lenders will lend the money to me, so that I achieve my goal," said Eglantina to the loan officer during the interview.

This loan is special because:

It supports populations in a country where financing options are scarce.
