A loan helped to buy oil, flour, corn, meats and seasonings.

Héctor Jesús's story

Héctor is a 32-year-old small business owner who lives in the city of Cartagena. When he wasn't able to find any opportunities for employment with companies in his city, he opted to start his own business selling traditional food. He thought that a business selling fried food, which is typical of his region, would be successful in his area. However, he decided to go out to sell in the various neighborhoods of the city in a cart that he bought and set up with some insulated boxes to store his products. He has now had this business for two years with excellent results.

He is currently requesting his first Kiva loan from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He plans to invest these resources in buying oil, flour, corn, meats and seasonings to be able to produce a lot more and to increase his earnings. His goal is to be a distributor of fried foods in the coastal area.
