A loan helped to pay for labor to construct her embroidery workshop.

Rosa's story

Rosa is a single 26 year old woman who has a six year old son. Her business is embroidering traditional clothing.

She is cheerful, happy and very hard-working. She does her business in the ‘Cruce Villa Adela’ neighborhood which is the center of a truck crossing area where you can find public transport to places far removed from the city.

Rosa is light brown, has almond eyes and raven colored hair. Her native tongue is Aymara which she hangs on to jealously, speaking it only in her family. She speaks Spanish for her business. She lives her life in the company of her son who studies in school and likes soccer a lot. They live in a room that is property of the family built of adobe. It has running water, electricity and sewage.

Her business is embroidering traditional clothing such as the "caporales" This theme is a dance that reflects the realtionship of the overseers and black slaves. The overseers are wearing boots, colorful clothing, hats and a whip. The boots have bells which sound when they walk and the clothing is adorned with bright and colorful sequins.

She does this work by hand in her bedroom. Her sales are by request or wholesale orders. "The idea of the designs is to show our loyalty to our local symbols with the great pride of being children of this land..." she commented. Her business is successful because it is completely artisan. Her dream is to have an embroidery workshop. She wants to pay for labor to construct it. This is her first loan in the 3 years she has carried out this activity.

For these reasons Rosa is requesting a loan to pay for labor to construct her embroidery workshop.
