A loan helped to buy embroidery raw material for herself.

Safia's story

Safia is 47 and the mother of six children, living with her husband and children in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She engages in embroidery to earn an income. She started her embroidery business eight years ago because she wanted to help her husband support the family and meet the household expenses.

Safia buys materials such as hand-embroidery kits, ribbons, needles and an embroidery machine from the market. Another person handles her transactions with her customers, so she has decided now that she would like to sell her embroidery items directly in the market so that she can earn a better profit for her family. She has become an expert in the embroidery business. Safia asked for a loan so she will be able to buy raw materials from the market. Safia will be thankful to Kiva and field partner BRAC Pakistan.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
