The city of Manta is considered the most important, popular and visited seaside town of Ecuador because of its beautiful and pleasing beaches. It is the first deepwater port of Ecuador and South America. This is where Narcisa lives. She is 50 years old and she is in a common law marriage from which she has three grown children who are on their own. Her spouse is a seafood merchant. In order to obtain her own income and taking advantage of her knowledge in cutting and sewing Narcisa opened a small sewing shop in her house. She makes all kinds of clothing for women, men and children. She works based on orders from individuals, although during the season she makes school uniforms for institutions, primary schools and high schools in her community. She works every day from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and sometimes later when she has orders to deliver. Her daughter also works in the shop. She is going to use this new loan to buy fabrics and other sewing materials. This is her first loan with the foundation. Her dream is to have a bigger shop and a store in the center of town where she can sell her work.
