For the past 15 years he’s been making pastries, and specifically dried phyllo dough, locally called “petka,” that are used for baklava and pies that his region is famous for. Shyqyri has a wide clientele. He sells his products to local individuals and also stores. The profits he has been making for all these past years have been going well. He is now requesting a Kiva loan because his wife needs an immediate heart surgery, and he hopes that lenders will help him financially. In addition, he prays that the surgery will go well and his wife will have a speedy recovery.
