María Aidé is a skilled farmer from El Águila, Valle del Cauca.
She owns a one hectare farm that she bought a few years ago where she cultivates 3,000 coffee plants along with 150 banana trees.
María’s region is well known for producing export quality coffee which is sold in Europe and Asia. María markets her coffee directly to Colombia’s National Coffee Association. María’s terrain access has challenging unpaved roads which require her to walk various kilometres with her production.
Maria lives with her husband and three children in a house they purchased together. Their children attend the local school and are following their parent’s footsteps in harvesting.
A loan of $8,511,887 COP helps Maria to purchase of a motorcycle that will make it easier for her to move the coffee harvest to her sheds to start the drying process.
