New Field Partner: ACM connects farmers with local suppliers to grow crops and profits in Ukraine

May 30, 2012

Join us in welcoming our newest Field Partner, Agro Capital Management (ACM)!

In Ukraine, ACM helps bridge the gap between farmers and the supplies and technology they need by offering financing options for new equipment, as well as training and technical assistance.

In particular, ACM works closely with borrowers from the marginalized ethnic Tatar group that was displaced by the Soviet Union in the 1940s. Many of these rural communities struggle to establish sustainable sources of income. ACM is ideally positioned to support these families with education and technology to help them start and expand small agricultural businesses.

Working in conjunction with local agriculture equipment suppliers, ACM helps farmers get access to products designed specifically for their needs -- like greenhouses, small tractors and complete grape growing packages. Access to these tools enables farmers to improve their production practices, increase productivity, and sell their goods in higher-value markets.

Kiva loans will be used to help farmers like Nariman Adzhiev (above), who financed a motor block and an irrigation system through ACM to boost his grape and strawberry production. These tools have increased his yield and allowed him to think about expanding his business and purchasing more equipment through ACM's program.

We are excited to support this partner and the entrepreneurs it serves!
