Carly Schwartz

Carly Schwartz has been dreaming of becoming a Kiva Fellow for nearly a decade, and finally decided to quit her job and take the plunge just after her 30th birthday. She's worked at The Huffington Post for the past five years, first as a front page editor, then as the founding editor of the San Francisco bureau, and most recently, as the newsroom's deputy national editor. Before that, she ran new media efforts for California Governor Jerry Brown. She lives in Brooklyn and loves biking, exploring abandoned buildings, redwood trees, live music and talking to strangers. She graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and recently returned for the career fair, where she was dismayed to learn that all the undergrads are more qualified than she is.
