VisionFund Senegal (VFS) is a microfinance institution established in July 2016 as a subsidiary of World Vision International, a Christian relief development and advocacy organization. Working together, they aim to provide the foundations for local economies to flourish in healthy and safe communities.
A unique lending approach:
VFS uses Kiva financing to provide group loans to a rural client base that is 68% rural and 80% female, with the goal of supporting family welfare. It facilitates wholesale & retail small business loans (limited to women) as well as agriculture and artisan and handicraft loans. The organization measures success using “number of active borrowers” closely followed by “number of children impacted.”
