Status Update - January 30, 2019
After 10 years and $3.6 million lent on Kiva, UIMCEC is no longer raising funds for microloans on Kiva for internal administrative reasons. Kiva thanks UIMCEC for their partnership and wishes them the best in their work in Senegal.
Partner Description:
The Union of Mutualist Institutions of Savings and Credit (UIMCEC), a partner of ChildFund International, is a federation of four licensed microfinance institutions based in Dakar, Mbour, Thiès and Ziguinchor with over 40 service points serving most of Senegal’s administrative regions, including many rural areas.
UIMCEC’s mission is to improve the income and well-being of families by providing access to well-designed financial services allowing for the development of income-generatiing activities, principally for young microentrepreneurs living in rural and periurban areas.
UIMCEC’s vision is to become a large, mature institution offering a wide variety of well-designed products and services that positively impact its members, staff and communities served, while working toward its own financial automomy. As a member-owned institution, UIMCEC aims to favor collaboration and cooperation between members.
Management and Governance Structure:
UIMCEC has a Board of Directors in each of the four regions its serves and a national Board of Directors with elected representation from each region board. In addition to the Board of Directors, UIMCEC also has an elected Credit Committee and Internal-Control Committee in each region.
