I loan because:
Helping people…truly helping… is hard. It's easy for many organizations to lose focus, become corrupt or simply make bad choices due to a lack of accountability. Kiva is different. It focuses on transparency of process with the goal of enabling micro-lenders across the world to provide credit to those that need it most. Borrowers are empowered to improve their lives in the ways they feel is in their best interest while being trusted with the responsibility to repay their loan which can then be lent out again. Thus is created a virtuous cycle. That's why I lend.
About me:
These days, when I'm not taking care of my four kids I'm a knitwear designer, fiber artist and writer. I also help run a community garden in my area. My dream? Someday I want to have a small farm of my own where I raise sheep and make my fiber art from the ewe and ram up, while at the same time opening it as a place of mediation and healing for people looking to spend some time closer to the natural world, especially returning vets who have given so much themselves.
