Aida's story

Aida is 39 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has three children with two of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, Aida has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts, dresses, etc.

To help expand her business, Aida has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes for resale. This will help Aida to generate greater profits and manage to provide some basic needs and food for her family. Aida hopes that in the future she will be able to become a powerful businesswoman and own a big shop in town.

Aida is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
