A loan of $550 helps to purchase for more raw food and vegetables for resale in her store.

Olivia's story
Olivia is 37 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, 2 of whom are currently in school. For the past 7 years, she has been working hard to manage her grocery store, in which sells raw food.
To help expand her business, Olivia has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale. This will help her to generate greater profits and improve on her family standards of living by providing them enough food.
Olivia hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build rental units for additional income. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
