María is 22 years old. She attended school through the ninth grade. She is single and lives with her mother.
María works making and selling pupusas [thick, corn tortillas stuffed with savory fillings], a job she learned from her mother. Her business is located at her house, and she works from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Her mother and a friend help her in her work.
She needs a loan to buy corn, oil, cheese and a cylinder of propane gas that she needs to make and sell pupusas. Her dream is to have her own house.
