Jane

Jane is 55 years old and lives in the town of Kangulumira in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children with 3 of them currently in school.

For the past 20 years, Jane has been working hard to manage her farm. To help expand her business, Jane has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more pineapple seedlings to plant, grow, and sell and will help Jane to generate greater profits. She will manage to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes for her children. Jane hopes that in the future she will be able to complete building her house.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
