Saal Group's story
This group was set up in 2007 and is made up of 3 women who all live in the same village. They have a very strong relationship. Madame Georgette, standing in the right-hand side of the photo with her hand raised, is the group leader. She is 40 years old and a widow with 4 children, including an 8 year old daughter. Like most of the other members, Madame Georgette runs a small business. She has been selling peanuts and vegetables for several years. She purchases stock from the local villages and her customers are women in her own village. The profits will allow her to take care of her family's needs (school fees, clothing and food) and to boost her savings.
