A loan of $500 helps to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale.

Claire's story
Claire is 29 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has one child who is currently in school.
For the past 16 years, Claire has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw food. To help expand her business, Claire has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale, and will help Claire generate greater profits and manage to buy food for her family.
Claire hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
