A loan of $550 helps to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale.

Christine's story
Christine is 45 years old and lives in the town of Gayaza in the Gayaza region of Uganda. She is married and has 7 children with 3 of them currently in school.
For the past one year, Christine has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw food. To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale, and will help Christine to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them enough food.
Christine hopes that, in the future, she will be able to buy a plot of land and build rental units for business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
