Zachariah

Zachariah is 33 years of age and lives with his family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Bauchi state. In his community, farming is the primary occupation and like many diligent smallholders, Zachariah dreams of expanding his farm business. Due to a lack of access to quality inputs, it has become difficult for farmers like him to achieve high yields to make a higher income.

Luckily, as a Babban Gona member, Zachariah will, thanks to this loan, be provided with higher-yielding seeds that are locally adapted and are widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizer based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable him to optimize his yield thereby attaining yields of up to 2 times the national average in Nigeria.

With lenders’ support to grow his farming business, Zachariah is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. He plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to build a better house for his family, access better health facilities for his family, pay his children's school fees, buy more nutritious foods, pay healthcare bills, buy books and uniforms for his children, purchase additional farmland for a bigger harvest next season, buy a motorcycle to start his transport business, invest back to his farm.
