Madiina
A loan of $1,375 helps to purchase raw food and vegetables for resale in her store.

Madiina's story
Madiina is 52 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, 3 of whom are currently in school. She has been working hard to manage her grocery store, in which she has sold raw food for the past 3 years.
To help expand her business, Madiina has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase raw food and vegetables for resale and will help her to generate greater profits and support her family to meet essential needs.
Madiina hopes that in the future she will be able to acquire land and build a residential house. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
