Claveles De Arenales Group

Claveles De Arenales Group's story

Evelín, a 21-year-old young woman, is known for being hardworking and responsible. She's in a relationship and doesn't have children yet.

Evelín has achieved economic independence thanks to her businesses, with only three years of education. She raises creole chickens and pigs, and sells them in the local market. Evelín and her husband sell kitchen utensils, bedding, and plastic furniture.

She feels very motivated because her small farm is growing.

Evelín is requesting her third Kiva loan to buy more animals for her farm, food to feed them adequately, and more merchandise like place settings, mattresses, bedding, a wardrobe, and plastic tables.

Her goal is to expand both businesses, increase her income, and help with the household expenses.

Evelín is the secretary of the Puente de Amistad communal bank Claveles de Arenales along with the other seven women in the department/state of Huehuetenango. They work raising domestic animals, selling plastic utensils, and running small convenience stores.

The women feel fortunate to participate in the Microcrédito Plus program, which benefits them with a loan, education, and preventive health. One of the themes these women highlight is the prevention of women's illnesses, which is of the utmost importance to their lives and their families' lives.

The help from Kiva lenders and Puente de Amistad is helpful to these women.
