Teopista's story
Teopista is 48 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is Married and has 4 children, 3 of whom are currently in school.
For the past 20 years, Teopista has been working hard to manage her bar business, which sells liquor. To help expand her business, Teopista has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda.
The loan will be used to buy more liquor and soft drinks to resell, and will help Teopista generate greater profits, invest more in her business, and buy food for her family. Teopista hopes that in the future she will be able to build more rentals for her business.
Teopista is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
