Lawal

Lawal's story

Lawal is married and lives in a humble mud house with his wife, children, and mother in a small village in Kaduna, Nigeria. Farming is the primary occupation within his community, and like many motivated smallholder farmers, he dreams of expanding his farming business.

Lawal is seeking a loan to buy high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and herbicides for the planting season to enable him to double last year’s yield and consequently increase his income. Due to the increase in security risks and the increasing costs of inputs, Lawal is requesting an increased loan to help account for his increased working costs.

This in turn would produce enough profit for him to pay his children's school fees, build a better house for his family, and purchase additional farmland for a bigger harvest next season.

With support from lenders to grow his farming business, Lawal looks forward to a generous harvest and feels more empowered to expand his maize farming operations, thereby becoming a successful farmer.
