Sylivia's story

Sylivia is 42 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has six children with four of them currently in school.

For the past 20 years, Sylivia has been working hard to manage her dairy shop, in which she sells fresh milk and gee.

To help expand her business, Sylivia has requested a loan of 3,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more cans of milk and gee to sell. This will help Sylivia to generate greater profits, her production will increase and she will attract more revenue. She will also manage to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes.

Sylivia hopes that in the future she will be able to boost more on her business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
