Shahanaj And Group's story
Shahanaj is a 41-year-old, the featured borrower raising her hand in the picture, and lives in Thakurganj in the Kishanganj district of Bihar.
She aims to support her husband in their paddy and rice business. Her husband buys paddy directly from the fields, processes it, packages it, and sells it in the local market. With a household of five, Shahanaj's family has a monthly income of INR 17,500 and saves INR 10,000. She hopes to increase their revenue and improve their livelihood.
A loan of INR 190,000 from Grameen Shakti, one of Milaap's field partners will enable her to help her husband expand their stock of paddy and rice to sell more in the local market.
She is joined by her friends, who also aspire to grow their respective businesses and achieve a better standard of living.
