A loan of $1,575 helps to buy acacia saplings.
Hằng's story
Mrs. Hằng, a 43-year-old woman from the mountainous region of Cẩm Thủy, is a member of an ethnic minority group. She lives with her husband and two children, one of whom is an adult and the other is a one-year-old currently attending school.
The family’s livelihood is modest, with Mrs. Hằng managing small-scale farming and livestock, while her husband works as a day laborer. Their income is unstable, and they struggle to make ends meet, living a life of simplicity and resilience.
For over 20 years, Mrs. Hằng and her family have invested in planting acacia trees for timber production. Though these trees take 5 to 6 years to reach maturity and be harvested, they provide a sustainable source of income.
As part of her long-term vision, Mrs. Hằng is now planning to invest in new acacia saplings to replace those that have already been harvested. To make this possible, she has applied for a second loan from Thanh Hóa Microfinance Institution (MFI). This financial support would allow her to maintain and expand her sustainable farming practices, contributing to her family’s financial security and continuing her role in preserving the environment.
