Thìn's story

Mrs. Thìn, a 60-year-old woman from Cẩm Thủy, a mountainous district in Vietnam, has built a life for herself and her family through perseverance and hard work. She is married with grown-up children, and her son's family lives with her in their home. Her husband works as a freelancer, while Mrs. Thìn runs a small grocery store at home. For nearly a decade, the store has been a steady source of income, with profits reaching around $200 per month.

As Tet, the Lunar New Year festival, approaches at the end of January 2025, Mrs. Thìn recognizes a surge in demand for goods in her community. The festive season calls for extra supplies, and Mrs. Thìn sees an opportunity to increase her sales. To make this happen, she has taken a significant step to improve her business: applying for her first loan from Thanh Hóa MFI (Microfinance Institution) to purchase additional goods and stock up for the busy season.

With the loan, Mrs. Thìn aims to ensure she can meet the increased customer demand during Tet. She hopes that with careful planning and the extra inventory, she will satisfy her community's needs and improve her family's income for the future.
